452 days left.....

Ok, so if we climb on New Year's Eve 2009, then we should be ready by Christmas 2009 (since that is about when we will fly out). I estimate that we have 452 days left to train and get ready, give or take a day or two.

I am still struggling with balancing fulltime work and fulltime school with training, but I have a renewed since of "oh crap, this is going to be here before I know it!". Which is good. 452 days is a good amount of time to prepare.

For my strength training, I am going to continue Fluidity when I can (new goal: be at the intermediate level by Thanksgiving). But also, I have discovered I can get in lunges, knee squats, half push-ups (off of table tops), and arm lifts nicely during work hours. It works out great because I spread the exercises out during the day so I don't get all sweaty, but I still get my strength training in.

As for cardio, I am just going to have to bite the bullet and go to the gym before work. I have started going into work later anyways (by later, I mean 8AM instead of 7AM or 6AM). However I still find myself getting up around 5:30 am or so.....so at least 3 times a week for now I will get up and get to the gym instead of lounging in bed. Then complete a long walk or hike on the weekends....eventually I will slowly up that to 5 days a week, but for right now, I will stick with 3 days + 1 weekend day of cardio. Better than nothing, and it will get me going again....

I had a dream last night....

...that we went to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro but were both very unprepared. :-( I forgot my hand warmers and was afraid of the cold. And then we tried to pack all our stuff into one backpack and you wanted to carry it, but it was too heavy and not the proper pack for climbing. Not a very uplifting dream but at least it motivates me more to get ready!

I finished another school term last night (well, technically this morning). Yeah! Now I have a whole week off. And intend to sleep as much as anything, although I will get some more training in....

Have a good week!

new toys are fun :-)

Hi Dad....glad you like your new toy. I would love to set it up for you. :-) I am sure you will have fun though.

I would still like to try for Nov 2009, however Tusker Trails still hasn't posted dates past October 2009. A lot has to do with school too....I am trying to finish by next year. So the later we go in the year, the better.

Today is my first day alone doing gas analysis (and I am already playing on the internet...hehe....in my defense though, the machine is acting up and I am giving it a little time to stabilize :-)). I worked out this morning at the gym, 40 min on the treadmill and 20 min on the bike.

Still don't have the results of my x-ray. I have to do my follow-up appt which I will try and get done this week. They did send a letter saying everything was normal. Uncle Larry (aka Dr. Judy) and my friend who is a nurse said I likely have a pinched nerve, so I am going with that theory for now. My arm does hurt a little after the work out this morning, but not too bad. I knew exercise was bad for you!!!

Ok, I need to check my machine. Have fun with Garmin!

Love,
Terri

Garmin Forerunner 101

Got my new toy in today. A GPS pedometer. Took the day off to read the manual. I wish you were here, I would have you read it for me and tell me how to use it. I brought the simple one, the 101 model. No computer hookup, etc but it still looks complicated. I hope I get it fiqured out. I'll post pictures later on if I can get it to work.

Do we have a date yet? Are we pushing it back? I hope all is well in Hollywood! Dad

PCB was Great!

The Beach was great. Sissy and I would love to get a house on the beach. The market might get right within the year to make it possible. Lucky it's FL Beach and not CA Beaches.

We have been trailering our bikes to Buck Creek and riding. And we still walk every morning. We are going back August 22th to ride Blood Mtn area and to the Cashiers/Highland area. No, mom is not riding with us this weekend.

The good news, I'm still walking every morning but the bad news, I'm not losing weight. So I'm going to start a diet with the walking. I'm going to buy a Pedometer/GPS unit to track my walking every day. I think it would be a fun toy to use.

Training Schedule 7/28 - 8/3

Ok, training schedule for the week:

Monday, 7/28: Gym or beach walk, 1 hr (not completed, went to doctors instead. Nothing serious...just some pain in shoulder I needed checked out and they had a free appointment today last minute. Will have x-rays on Thursday or Friday this week. No reason why I can't continue with cardio...but will skip the Fluidity until source of pain is discovered.)
Tuesday, 7/29: Gym, 1 hr (completed, took it easy but still made it to the gym. 50 min, speed between 3 and 4.5 mph, max HR 159, ave HR 140....I didn't make it to the gym until almost 9:30pm. I figured at least the place would be empty....NOT. Apparently ppl in CA don't sleep, they just exercise all night. The place was packed!)
Wed, 7/30: Gym, 1 hr (not completed....my pain got worse after the work-out yesterday so I am going to cool it with training until my doctor figures out what is wrong with me. I get X-rays done tomorrow and will post what his thoughts on the results...)
